Central Canberra Family Day Care

Central Canberra Family Day Care provides quality Family Day Care across all of Canberra

Families are able to utilise care across Canberra ranging from Tuggeranong through to Gunghalin

We have currently over 20 early Childhood Educators employed by our scheme across Canberra. They come from various ethnic backgrounds and speak various community languages other than English.

Most of our Early Childhood Educators hold formal qualifications in child care or are currently enrolled in courses to obtain qualifications. We encourage further education of our employees and in order to assist our workers with their studies, we employ a traineeship coordinator who holds regular tutorial sessions.

Central Canberra Family Day Care is licensed under ACT legislation and is currently undergoing the newly developed Quality Assurance Process which will result in formal accreditation by the National Childcare Accreditation Council. Central Canberra Family Day Care was one of the six pilot schemes in Australia which helped develop the Quality Assurance Process.

Cubby House

Cubby House is an exciting addition to the portfolio of services of Central Canberra Family Day Care. It gives us the unique opportunity in Family Day Care to guarantee care throughout for our families.

Usually, when a home-based Child Care Worker in Family Day Care is sick, on leave or unable to work for other reasons and an alternative place with another Child Care Worker within the scheme cannot be found, the family is forced to make arrangements where one parents stays at home or where relatives have to come to the rescue.

Not so at Central Canberra Family Day Care with Cubby House. The licence to operate a long day care centre on our premises in Balmain Lane and the employment of a qualified Child Care Worker at Cubby provides for the availability of back-up care throughout the year.

Cubby is not only a back-up care facility but also an opportunity for visiting scholars at the ANU to have their children in care while the parents are on a temporary contract for a few months.

We use Cubby for occasional care on Graduation days when graduates are often desperate to obtain care for a couple of hours while they attend the ceremony.

In order to have a predictable number of children at Cubby at all times, we also have a small number of permanent places available for ANU staff and students. Anyone interested in placing their child in care full time in a central location close to Civic should contact us immediately.

Opening hours of Cubby are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm
